What is The Mending Cafe About?
Think: Fabric as vessel for reflection, imagination, memoir and story telling. The Mending Café loosely follows in the story-cloth making traditions of African-American, Native American, Hmong, Mexican, Amish and Hawaiian women, nurturing the gifts fabric offers as a timeless language of subversion and healing among women.
Sherril Willis brings her sewing and quilting expertise to the table, inviting spiritual exploration through the medium of mixed media that includes textiles. You do not have to have any sewing, quilting or experience working with fabric.
