The Alchemy of Grief: Re-Visioning Loss 8 Tuesdays, 1:30-3:30pm October 1, 8, 15, 22, November 5, 12, December 3, 10 (this is a come-when-you-can group, it is hoped that you will make the commitment to attend as many in the series as you are able)
Because, as author Francis Weller says in his magnificent book The Wild Edge of Sorrow, “grief and love are sisters”…because grief is “an original cadence of our souls”….because we sense on the deepest levels that so much is being lost…because grief is indeed holy ground…these gently facilitated conversations based on Weller’s book provide space and time for shared community to give thoughtful voice to personal and communal grief. The form of this is group is creative reflection and shared conversation rather than support group. You will be invited into optional creative expression (writing or art making) as part of the flow of these sessions, but it is not necessary for participation in these sessions.
Week One: An apprenticeship with Sorrow Week Two: The Five Gates of Grief Week Three: Ritual Literacy Week Four: Original Trauma: The Grief of the Earth Week Five: Grief Has Never Been Private, Always Communal Week Six: Receiving Sorrow Week Seven: A Re-Visioning of Grief Week Eight: How Do I Say Goodbye?
These sessions will be guided by Rev. Susannah Crolius, who has years of experience as a minister working with congregations in crisis and transition, as both hospice and hospital chaplains, a pet loss group facilitator, and healing expression through the arts, as well as her own life-changing encounters with grief.
