SOUL PICNIC 2019
warmer weather offerings at The Nest

Spring slowly unfolds into Summer. Time slows down. Maybe with the warmer weather some breathing room for inner discovery or renewal?  The Nest becomes your refuge. Quiet. Cool. Unhurried. Uncommitted. A veritable feast of materials providing nourishment for creative expression and spiritual inquiry.

There will be a prompt on a theme each day The Nest is open and some questions for reflection to guide your interior process--whether you are a writer, a visual creator, a dabbler or just curious how art making and spirituality inform each other.  You can choose to work undirected with the prompts offered or I can gently guided you in your exploration. And, if the prompt doesn't speak to you, you are, as always, welcome to do your own art/spirit thing using the ever changing materials at The Nest.

The Nest Summer Schedule

Thursday AFTERNOONS, 1:00-3:00pm

Wild Goose* Thursdays: drop in open art making with prompts inspired by Mary Oliver’s poetry and women mystics.
*The Wild Goose is the Celtic symbol for Spirit

Thursday AFTERNOONS,3:00-5:30pm
The Seekers Circle

New for the Summer!  Part social gathering, part loosely facilitated conversation and always time for creative response, The Seekers Circle is an informal community of writers and creatives who are perpetually curious and desire to join with others in their inquiry.  The Circle will be grounded by a question of a "spiritual" nature (broadly defined) which is unpacked by participants together and then explored individually through creative response, whether writing, collage, painting, mixed media, fabric, etc.
Come once or be a regular as your schedule allows.

It is always helpful to know if you plan to be there: call/text 413-348-2385 or artandsoul.wm@gmail.com.

These sessions are all drop-in.  Of course, it is always helpful to know if you plan to come to The Nest on a certain day:  artandsoul.wm@gmail.com or call/text 413-348-2385.
The Nest is air-conditioned. It is located on the second floor of First Churches, located at 129 Main Street, Northampton, MA . The entrance to The Nest space is on 11 Center Street, which runs next to the church off of Main Street. Regretfully, there is no elevator up to the space. If you wish to participate and you have mobility issues, I will gladly attempt to make arrangements for accessible space on the first floor.

There are several options for parking near The Nest space.  The parking garage behind Thorne's Market is a five-minute walk from The Nest.  The first hour is free; each additional hour is 75 cents.  The James House/Gothic Street parking lot on Gothic Street is also a five-minute walk from The Nest.  The cost is 25 cents per hour for up to ten hours. Public parking is available in the small TD Bank lot just across from the entrance to The Nest for $1 per hour but spaces can be hard to come by.  On the street parking is 75 cents per hour, with a two hour limit or you can download a mobile parking app at www.parkmobile.com.
