you begin to walk and your sweater catches on hawthorn branches, you think of a little breathless girl running through a fairy tale forest, except that you are no longer running away, but headlong into the council of trees, and you know this moment as a new beginning with no idea of what is arriving... -christine valters paintner
REGRETFULLY, THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS!
Because it's Spring...and we can be outside...and nature and spirit are intricately connected...art + soul invites you to join us on a pilgrimage to purposefully wander, noticing how the the ordinary transfigures into the sacred when you take the time to pause, listen, notice. This sauntering is an invitations to spend a Spring morning outdoors in community, meditation and creative response.
Saturday, May 22, 10:00am-12:30 Pilgrimage to Lilac Land, 24 Harkness Road, Pelham, MA
"They" say that the lilacs peak along about Mother's Day each year, meaning the second weekend of May. But we know that life has its own timing and rhythms...and so, we do not know where the lilacs will be on this 4th Saturday in May. We trust that there will be beauty to be found, even if the lilacs have "peaked," inviting us to engage sensually in smell, touch, sound, to ponder the truth about beauty and expectation. Bring your (phone) camera, your journal, your sketch pad, your guitar, your watercolor pens, or whatever materials that invite you into contemplation, wandering, wondering, and encountering.
Schedule for the morning: 10:00am Gather at the entrance 10:15am Introductions, Logistics and Some Opening Thoughts 10:40-10:45am Meditation 10:45-11:45am Garden Encounter: contemplative photography, writing, art making, individual meditation/prayer 11:50am Gather as a group to briefly process experience and Closing Circle 12:25pm Say goodbye
Cost: There is no fee to enter Lilacland. A love offering to art + soul for these workshops are most welcomed, but not required. If you wish to carpool to either of these sites, please let us know.
