There will be time enough for running. For rushing.
For worrying. For pushing.
For now, stay. Wait.
Something is on the horizon.
NIGHTWATCH: Mapping the Darkness A Daily Creative Vigil of Trusting November 28 -December 25, 2021 Daily Email for Your Contemplative and Creative Heart
Shared Reflection in person and via ZOOM on November 28, December 5, December 12, December 19, 3:00-4:30pm .
As we surrender to the fullness of the season of winter, candles from many traditions are lit in profusion, fires are tended, inside and out. At night, hearths become altars of comfort and deep reflection. It is the time of the Nightwatch, sacred time of learning to trust what we know but cannot yet grasp.
Each day between November 28 and December 25, you will receive a quote and an image in your email box as an invitation to sit, linger, ponder, wonder, wait, behold contemplatively and creatively on the theme of Trust. Perhaps the daily email will open the door to daily entries in your word or art journal or write an ongoing prose poem over the course of these weeks, a new verse each day or compile you own 24-day advent calendar through simple drawings or painting or collage or listen for a word for the day and let it inhabit you or put up a festive rope or string and each day clip on your art or writing or creative project in the style of cordel literature.*
You MUST register to receive the daily emails beginning November 28 and participate in any of the four Sunday sessions either via ZOOM or in person: email@example.com.
On four Sunday afternoons (November 28, December 5, December 12, December 19) we will gather from 3:00-4:30pm via both ZOOM and local folks can join me in my home in Greenfield as we share our reflections on our own vigils of trusting.
Local folks! Please let me know you are coming to my home by 10am the morning of any of the four Sunday sessions. firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text 413-348-2385
COST: A suggested offering for the 4 week series of daily emails and 4 Sunday sessions is $100+ ($25+ per session). If this amount is prohibitive, please offer what you comfortably and generously can weekly or in full. No one will be turned away. You are also welcome to join in the Sunday sessions and not receive daily emails. A love offering is welcomed. Payment by Venmo or Paypal are available, as well as checks and cash.
*Cordel literature are popular and inexpensively printed booklets or pamphlets containing folk novels, poems and songs. They are produced and sold in street markets and by street vendors in Brazil, mainly in the Northeast. They are so named because they are hung from strings to display them to potential customers, and the word for rope in Portuguese is corda, from which the term cordel is derived.
