Paying Attention is the central act of every spiritual tradition and practice. Sacred is not somewhere out there but dwells in the most ordinary of things. During this monthly soulful gathering, you are invited to practice paying attention in several ways: the act of gathering with others, hearing the sound of a word reverberate within, being in contemplative silence, walking meditation or prayer, and attentive listening to the sharing of experiences with other seekers.
10:00 - 10:20: (20 minutes) we gather and reflect briefly together on a singular word
10:20-10:35 (15 minutes) sit in silence with that word hearing what stirs within us
10:40-11:20 (40 minutes) Out into "the field" to engage with the word. You are encouraged to walk wherever your soul takes you. Walk down a familiar street in Greenfield. Or walk a little side street you have never been down. Find a bench and listen. People watch. Be a contemplative photographer. Just pay attention.
For those with mobility limitations or in the event of adverse weather, you are welcome to engage in the field of continued silence. movement or creative expression (journaling, writing, art making) inside at the Center.
11:20-12:00 (up to 40 minutes) We gather together again over bagels and fruit and share what has emerged for us in our seeing.
This is a come-when-you-can-and want-to series. No registration necessary. Bring your own mat or sitting cushion if you prefer for meditation.
Cost: $10-40+ per session (sliding scale). No one will be turned away due to ability to pay. Payment by Venmo or Paypal are available, as well as checks and cash.
