2nd and 4th Thursday evenings of the month, 5:30-7:30
Beginning January 10th, 2019 The Nest Space@ First Churches, 11 Center Street, second floor, Northampton, MA
What do you want me to talk about?" I asked. "Come tell us what is saving your life now," he answered. (from An Altar in the World, Barbara Brown Taylor)
Poetry. Reading poetry is what is saving my life right now. Poetry ismedicine. And I want to gather informally yet meaningfully with others who find solace and nourishment in the life-giving experiences of poetry. We'll inhabit one already created poem each session--from vintage, contemporary and emerging poets--read it aloud (because poetry is meant to be heard and there is something soooo comforting about being read to), breath it in, ponder it with some guiding questions, and then responded to what is inspired within us through expressive art making, which could be collage, mixed media, painting, drawing, clay or writing. Dessert and beverages are an integral part of The Poetry Lounge experience.
Cost: suggested sliding scale of $15-$30 per session. Contributions of quality dessert food are also welcome as part of the cost.
The Nest @ First Churches is located at 11 Center Street, Northampton, MA, on the second floor. Regretfully, at this time, this space is not easily accessible for those with mobility issues. However, if this series is something you are definitely interested in and you do have mobility challenges, please do let me know, and I will make arrangements for another space.
