From the Relic-Query art installation at the Wild Goose Festival, Harmony, North Carolina
Art is soul medicine, inviting healing, giving voice beyond the boundaries of words, teaching us about mystery, give us room to live in paradox. Creativity enlarges our capacity to see the holy at work in the world.

For me, the lines between spirituality and creativity are intimate, blurred, timeless. Ancient drawings on cave walls. Music making. Singing. Dancing. Storytelling. Poetry. The spoken rhythms of sacred texts. Painting. All these creative expressions speak to the essential questions, stories and experiences of our common—and unique—human stories.

The workshops and retreats I offer are fluid explorations into this intimacy between spirit and creative process. The toolbox from which I draw is large and diverse: wisdom from many spiritual traditions, contemplative practices, ritual, and a wildly eclectic array of art materials to work with. For thirteen years I have trusted again and again the magic of creating gentle, nurturing space, the power of inspiring materials and the freedom to simply be open to what arises in the process.

What people say after participating in an art & soul workshop:

"Extraordinary program…I loved every aspect of it…The format immersed us in abundance—visual richness, music, stories, poetry, creative materials and long stretches of time to create and together to support and share, all at our own pace. Wonderful!”   -Karen

“I'm amazed at how working with art, combined with meditation and a little sharing of one's pain, realizations, joys and reflections with others in a small group took the toxic energy out of a current day issue and contributed to healing one more layer of an old lifelong hurt. My heart swells with appreciation!!” -Barbara

“I hardly have words to describe the immense feeling of hope, happiness, lightness, and healing that I left with after our last gathering.  I expected our meetings to help me learn to forgive and to heal, but I never expected it to be almost miraculous.” -Michele

“It has been a deeply powerful experience for me as I have met brave, creative, delightful people whom I feel so fortunate to be connecting with. Thank you for your gentle, inquisitive, playful spirit.  I look forward to many more creative and transformative experiences with you.” -Deb

“The women in our group were all absolutely amazing.  The pain, respect, trust, and wisdom that was shared in the circle was so powerful and awe inspiring, it was one of the most moving things I have ever witnessed.  I feel very blessed and truly honored to have known all of them. They have touched my life and I won't ever forget them.”-Sue
