​art + soul is...
a community of seekers, curious ones and creatives offering hospitality to deep questions and the illumination of our deeper stories. We gather virtually, we gather in person, but always, we are shared company to one another as we re-imagine how spirituality, community, and creativity weave together to offer medicine, welcome and nourishment for the soul.

art + soul is deeply curious...
about how we articulate our spiritual identity. We believe that how we name who we are and the language we use to give meaning to our spiritual lives profoundly shapes how we move through the world in kinship with ourselves and others.  We may need to re-imagine or re-story the words, language, images, or experiences of what we understand to be “spiritual.”  Or, perhaps, you seek to better understand what you mean by “spiritual” or deepen your practice of opening your heart through the wide lens of spirituality.  

art + soul invites...
generative space, both in-person and virtual, for exploration through contemplative reflection, lively conversation, ritual and often, creative expressions like making art and writing.

art + soul offers...

A word about the words “art" and “spirituality”...

The word “spirituality” is burdened by assumptions:
that "spirituality" is about belief, or it is synonymous with "religion," or that "God" is always part of the language of spirituality. art + soul’s invitation is one of expanding our  imagination, nurturing new ways of seeing, naming and recognizing the sacred in the most ordinary of things and in the most unexpected places.
 
And, the word “art” often carries its own burdens:
that "art" means the creation of a beautiful thing that someone will buy or "artists" are uniquely gifted people with special talents, or
 "creativity" is a something that children engage in through arts and crafts.

At art + soul, we experience the art of making, be it a line on a page, a painting, a collage, a poem, to be a process, one of unfolding inner invitation, where materials, words, objects, ideas, dreams assist you in the asking of a question or the telling of a story that needs or wants to be given voice. What is made is not important; what you encounter in the making is. To us, creating becomes a form of spiritual practice, an opening of the heart so that we may see with more clarity.
