grief tending: accompanying you in your grief

Here is what I know:
The presence of grief runs through our lives like a red thread stretching through time. Loss takes a thousand forms and is an inherent, natural and relentless part of the human experience,
shape-shifting who we understood ourselves and the world to be.
Yet we live in a culture that is grief-averse. In our discomfort of the presence of intense emotions, in our profound reluctance to express vulnerability lest we be exposed, judged or shamed, and embedded in a culture where the value and expectation is productivity, we minimize the fulless of all that we are feeling or hurry our grief along so that things can return to "normal."
I am a grief tender. I do not take your grief from you but rather, accompany you in its strange and unpredictable ebb and flow.
I have great respect for the wilderness of grieving. Professionally and personally, I am well-acquainted with its many faces and the dislocation of self and long-held identities that are consequent to its presence. It sounds paradoxical, I know, but I have come to trust Grief. I know these words of grief therapist Francis Weller to be true, "Fortunately, grief knows where to take us; we are on a pilgrimage to soul."
I am glad to meet with you virtually or in person to explore your grief at a pace that feels right for you: weekly, monthly, occasionally.
Please contact me to set up an initial conversation at
[email protected] so I can better understand your story.
I offer a sliding fee scale per session of $50-125.
I also create Grief-to-Go boxes and custmized altars and memory boxes.
